Springer School and Center honored three alumni with its Outstanding Achiever Award at the Annual Dinner and Meeting on May 16th, 2005. The award is presented to Springer graduates who have demonstrated leadership through their school, work, community or extracurricular activities. Nominees are high school age or older.

GREG MUMFORD '94 completed 1st through 6th grades at Springer. He later graduated from Oak Hills High School in 2000 and will graduate from the University of Cincinnati, College of Engineering with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in June of 2005. Greg has been on the Dean’s list and has paid all college and living expenses through summer employment, co-op jobs and high school jobs. Upon graduation, he will be employed at Cinergy. Greg has an extensive list of school and community involvement. He was captain of the Oak Hills varsity swim team, and was awarded the Most Valuable and Hardest Worker awards. In addition, he was captain of the Gamble Nippert YMCA Swim Team and participated in national, state, and district swimming championships. Greg has volunteered at soup kitchens, with Habitat for Humanity and with the Ronald McDonald House. In college he has been a member of the Engineering Tribunal, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and enjoyed intramural soccer. Professionally, Greg has extensive co-op engineering experiences with AK Steel and Cinergy, where he has received top performance reviews as evidenced in the following written comments: "Greg gets an unbelievable amount accomplished . . he is amazing with his energetic work habits . . a very quick learner . constantly thinking of ways to improve the situation . .very focused on his work . . takes the initiative . . a very solid thinking engineer."
MEGAN LOWE '00 completed high school at St. Ursula Academy in 2004. She made 1st and 2nd honors throughout her high school career. Megan was quick to apply the strategies she had learned at Springer and was widely recognized for her self-advocacy. She served as a school ambassador, mentored girls in the Walnut Hills after school program, and volunteered at Camp Stepping Stones. At graduation, Megan received the Danielle E. Hater award. Danielle, a graduate of St. Ursula was also a Springer grad. Danielle lost her courageous battle with cancer several years ago, and the award established in her memory recognizes a St. Ursula grad who demonstrates courage, persevervance and optimism in the face of adversity. Now enrolled at the College of Mt. St. Joseph, Megan has just completed her Freshman year. She was on the dean’s list and was the recipient of the MSJ leadership grant. She is also a school ambassador and was recognized for her contributions to College Planning Night, 2004. Megan also maintains her ties to her community of Silverton through participation in the Silverton Garden Society.
ANDREW LASKEY '91 attended Springer as a primary student. He completed Colerain High School in 2001 with a 3.8 GPA - graduating in the top 5% of his high school class, and was captain of the varsity tennis team for two years. Following HS graduation, Andrew enrolled at the University of Cincinnati where he is a finance and marketing major, again maintaining an overall GPA of 3.8. He is in the Carl H. Linder honors plus business scholarship program; receives a full academic scholarship given yearly to 30 business students out of 500. Andrew's studies have extended internationally participating in interactive business seminars led by top executives at 12 multi-national corporations throughout Europe. He has completed several internships including ones at Credit Suisee First Boston and Fidelity Investments and with each successive internship he has demonstrated levels of success that have led to ever increasing responsibilities. The path has not always been easy, but Andrew meets challenges and obstacles with perseverance and constructive strategies. As a member of Delta Sigma Pi - Professional business fraternity, Andrew presided over the largest pledge class in its history and chaired numerous committees. He is treasurer of the UC Golf Club and Co-founder and President of the UC Tennis Club. Volunteer work also plays an important part in Andrew’s life. He started a joint service project at UC to work with Arlington Heights Academy to create an after school program for its students and devoted 40 hours to building a Habitat for Humanity house. He is also a College of Business Student Ambassador.
