A student-organized committee of volunteers helped collect over 8 large boxes of relief supplies that were taken by truck to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. The Hurricane Relief committee continued their relief efforts by organizing a school-wide bake sale. Items were donated by Springer students and families, and all proceeds went to the Red Cross. Through the Bake Sale, a student-orgranized Read-A-Thon, and a portion of the proceeds from the Innisbrook Gift Wrap Sale, Springer students and families helped raise $2,820 to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina. The money raised was presented to Red Cross representative, Melanie Steinau, in an all-school assembly.
