On October 9th, 2006, author Patricia Polacco came to Springer for the Author in Residence program.  The program consisted of a day and evening program, where Polacco met with both students and parents, and held a booksigning that was hosted by the Springer Parent Association.  Patricia Polacco is the author and illustrator of numerous picture books for children. Although she struggled in school and was unable to read until age 14 due to dyslexia, she found relief by expressing herself through art and writing.
