Reading screenings help detect potential challenges such as dyslexia, language processing disorders, or other learning differences. By identifying these concerns early, families and educators can implement effective interventions, ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive.
What to Expect at a Reading Screening
When you bring your child to Springer Diagnostic Center for a reading screening, you will be greeted by our experienced staff in a welcoming and supportive environment. The screening process is non-invasive and consists of brief, age-appropriate assessments that measure foundational reading skills, including phonemic awareness, decoding, and fluency. After the screening, our specialists will review the results with you, answer any questions, and provide recommendations for next steps if further evaluation or intervention is indicated. Families should expect to be at Springer for approximately one (1) hour.

The process typically takes 45-60 minutes and is suitable for children in kindergarten through grade 6. Screening results guide families in deciding whether further evaluation or intervention may be beneficial.

Scheduling a reading screening is simple - just complete our online registration form. Screenings are available by appointment only. After registration, you will receive a confirmation email with details about your visit and instructions for preparing your child.
