Lower School Photos

Lower School students learned to make and record their observations as they used their senses to study various kinds of foods. They noted how the food looked, felt, and smelled.

Lower School Lego Club is one of Springer's after-school programs. Students created balloon-powered cars and measured how far they could travel.

Lower School Green enjoy time in the library. They are encouraged to choose one "just right" book - a book at their reading level - and a second book of their choice.

Lower School Green students took a virtual field trip to the San Diego Zoo.  Classes were able to connect with live cameras in the zoo to see a variety of animals in action. Afterward, they created two sock puppets - a giraffe and another animal of their choice. They also enjoyed a game of zoo animal bingo.

Each session of after school Taekwondo wraps up with a demonstration of the students' abilities.

During Be Your Best Self Week in October, students were joined during recess by Meredith from Skool Aid. Meredith led students in exercise and games. These Lower School Green students played a tag game that reinforced ideas about what is good for our bodies and what is not.

Mrs. Gallant's class practiced math facts in pairs, with partners in the room or at home by computer. They then tested their math fact fluency by taking a timed written test.

Lower School students went outside on a sunny afternoon and traced their shadows with chalk. They compared the tracings with those they had made in the morning, and then engaged in a variety of challenges such as trying to make their shadow as small as possible, making their shadow disappear, and making their shadows "shake hands" without touching each other.

Games with the parachute are always popular with Lower School students in Mr. Phelps' physical education classes.

The Green Team celebrated Valentine's Day with snacks, crafts, and Valentine exchanges. As it was also Student Appreciation Day, students were allowed to wear pajamas to school.

Green Team students celebrated the 100th day of school with a variety of activities including counting how many times they could clap, say the alphabet, write their names and jump up and down in 100 seconds.

Green Team students participated in a "book walk" created by Librarian Amanda Forbes. A book walk is an active way to engage with a picture book.
