Lower School Tech/Health classes built working models of a heart chamber using glass jars, balloons and straws. They pumped "blood" out of the heart by pressing on the balloon covering the jar's opening.
Green Team students enjoyed a 3-day residency program with local actor, artist and storyteller Rae Buchanan. The students prepared a theatrical performance that they shared with the school at the December 19 holiday assembly.
Green Team students had a social after school on a Friday afternoon in November. They wore pajamas to school all day, and then enjoyed snacks, games with Student Council Officers and a movie after school.
Green Team students made their own paper by dissolving toilet paper in water and pressing the water out through a screen. They flattened the paper between sheets of waxed paper and let it dry.
As part of their study of electricity, Lower School Blue and Gray students built cardboard houses and wired them to batteries. Each room was equipped with working lights and switches.
The National Theatre for Children brought an entertaining program for Lower School students about energy - how it's measured, how to conserve it and what are renewable sources.
Mrs. Walton's Green Team science classes make plywood by gluing together layers of thin wood. They tested the strength of their plywood by trying to bend it.
