Unsure what to expect for your teen as they leave high school and enter college? College is different from high school in some fundamental ways. Every year Springer School and Center hosts a university representative to help parents prepare for the transition to college.
This year our speaker is Cassandra Jones, Director of Accessibility and Disability Resources at Xavier University. Ms. Jones has been a popular speaker at Springer on this topic. We are excited to welcome her again. The presentation will address accommodations granted under the Americans With Disabilities Act, which covers all post-secondary institutions, public and private.
Parents and students will learn:
- The executive function skills that students will need to utilize at the college level
- Typical accommodations after grade 12
- Qualifications or categories under which students might obtain accommodations
- Documentation needed to apply for accommodations at the University level
- How services differ at the university level vs. high school
