Springboard to Success
August 4, 2025
We are proud to recognize the outstanding dedication of Wilson® teachers and staff at Springer, who have gone above and beyond to support students with dyslexia. Through hands-on practicum and the faithful implementation of the Wilson Reading System®, our team has shown an unwavering commitment to structured literacy and the science of reading—a commitment now honored with national recognition.

This year Springer School and Center has earned a distinct honor as a Wilson® Accredited Training Partner. Wilson Language Training® and Wilson® Accredited Training Partners have received Accreditation Plus by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). This designation recognizes that Wilson Reading System certifications align with the IDA’s Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading.
Special congratulations Springer's six Wilson® Credentialed Dyslexia Practitioners: Diane Houghton, Jen Brook, Julie Flowerdew, Miranda Miller, Rachel Goheen, and Kristy Ilg. Each completed over 120 hours of intensive coursework and more than 100 hours of practicum work, showing true dedication and passion for helping students succeed.
Springer has long championed the science of reading, making structured literacy the cornerstone of its instructional approach. Over the past five years, this commitment has been deepened through the strategic adoption of Wilson® Language Training, guided by the leadership of President Brett Marcoux and Senior Director of Academics & Learning Diane Houghton. They appointed experienced teacher and LD expert Cari Kelly to lead the certification process. A Dyslexia Therapist, Level 3 Certified Dyslexia Trainer and Wilson Fundations® Facilitator, Cari Kelly has completed over 600 hours of intensive coursework and hands-on practice to earn her distinguished credentials. She now serves as an instructional coach to 21 of Springer’s Lower and Middle School teachers implementing Wilson programs, ensuring consistency, fidelity, and impact in literacy instruction.
In a letter to the school, Wilson Language Training states, “We are pleased to acknowledge that your contributions to Wilson’s mission of teacher professional learning will nurture the development of literacy in your area…”
This accreditation confirms that Springer meets and exceeds the International Dyslexia Association’s Knowledge and Practice Standards (KPS), a nationally recognized benchmark for structured literacy instruction. It verifies that Springer provides consistent, high-quality teaching grounded in evidence-based practices.
This designation shows that Springer’s approach is not just aspirational. It is accredited, implemented with fidelity, and firmly rooted in proven methods.
