Helping Students Build Independence During Summer Break

Springer Students, Ready to Soar
Last week, Springer celebrated our commencing students and the many ways they have grown, contributed, and shaped our school community.
Throughout their time at Springer, these students have worked hard - not only in the classroom, but in the daily practice of building confidence, strengthening independence, developing self-advocacy, and discovering more about who they are as learners and individuals. Their efforts and growth have been something to celebrate.
Just as importantly, our commencing students have left their mark on our hallways, classrooms, and community. They have brought humor, kindness, curiosity, leadership, creativity, and friendship to Springer. They have encouraged younger students, supported one another, participated in school traditions, and helped make Springer feel like Springer.

During our commencement ceremony, many students bravely stood up in front of the crowd to give speeches. Here are a few highlights:
"Before I went to Springer I was struggling to carve a good future for myself, but now after 4 years of learning at Springer there are so many more opportunities available for my future. The guidance and help Springer gave to me secured my learning and growth."
"I started at Springer in 2nd grade and I could not read. My teacher helped me learn reading strategies. This year I can read perfectly. Springer has taught me vowel-consonant 'e' and my writing has gotten better. My math teacher taught me division and multiplication."
"Springer has helped me overcome many obstacles by helping me to persevere and grow. My first year at Springer, I noticed a big improvement in my math, writing, and many other things. Even my attitude toward school improved. I started to care about school and what I was learning. I have learned many strategies at Springer and hope to put them to good use in the next stage of my life."
"Springer has taught me to speak up for myself and ask questions if I need help. Springer has given me the ability to push myself to reach my goals like spelling new and harder words. Thank you to the teachers and staff for all the support over the years. Thank you for all the care and time you put in to help me every single day."
"I recommend Springer, a 5-star review. It is a great journey and a wonderful experience."
As they prepare for what comes next, we are proud of all these students have accomplished and excited for the opportunities ahead. At the same time, we know our halls will feel different without them next year. Their energy, personalities, and presence will be deeply missed.
To our commencing students: thank you for being part of Springer’s story. We are cheering you on as you take this next step, and we cannot wait to see the many ways you continue to grow, lead, and soar.
