Take a Closer Look at...Teacher Education
Today's educators are inundated with mandates to reform, restructure, achieve excellence and include a population of students that many teachers have few available resources to serve. Between 1986 and 1996, the number of students with learning disabilities who were educated in regular classrooms increased by nearly 20 percent, while the percentage served in resource rooms or separate classes decreased substantially (National Center for Educational Statistics). Professionals are eager to serve children who struggle to learn but often have limited knowledge of how to provide intensive services within a classroom of varied abilities.
Springer Center is dedicated to assisting the inclusive classroom teacher in creating successful learning environments for all children. The programs offered at the Center are helping teachers to understand the underlying theory of best practice, while also providing them with interventions and strategies that increase learning.
