Pi Day Celebrations

Middle School students celebrated Pi Day (March 14) by bringing in round objects, many of them edible. They measured the circumference and calculated the area, then enjoyed a treat!

The classic story of three goats and a troll came to life in Springer's library when Lower School Green Team students performed a Reader's Theatre version of the book The Three Billy Goats Gruff by Jerry Pinkney.

Spheres of the Earth

Middle School science classes explored the "spheres" of the earth by creating models or posters that represented and labeled the atmosphere, lithosphere, biosphere and hydrosphere.

Westward Expansion

Lower School Blue and Gray Team social studies classes learned about westward expansion in the United States in a hands-on way. Using props and curriculum provided by the Cincinnati Museum Center, the students put themselves into the places of people alive during the westward expansion.

Blue and Gray Team Social

Lower School Blue and Gray Team students had an opportunity for fun with friends at their February social event. The students watched a movie and enjoyed a pizza and ice cream lunch. In the afternoon, students could choose to run an obstacle course with Springer Trustee Mike Wright or engage in Zumba with Social Media and Alumni Relations Coordinator Marika Huelskamp.

Lower School Blue and Gray Team students enjoyed a Winter Celebration packed with activities, games, refreshments and crafts, with a "Let It Snow" theme.

The Lemonade War

Middle School students Austin Holt and Sloane Lipson read the book The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies, a book about a brother and sister who have a 'lemonade war,' each trying to earn the most money at their lemonade stand. The students thought it would be fun to create their own lemonade stand and give lemonade to teachers as a thank you. They also shared information about the book they read and fun facts about lemons.

The Green Team celebrated Valentine's Day by decorating Valentine's bags, exchanging cards and enjoying refreshments together.

Student Appreciation Day

Springer celebrated its traditional Student Appreciation Day with administrators distributing ice cream treats to classrooms. Middle Schoolers were allowed to wear pajamas to school on that day.

Magnetic Slime

Middle School science students created "magnetic slime" by adding iron filings into a slime recipe that includes glue and starch. They used magnets to explore the magnetic properties of the slime and found that when a magnet was placed near a ball of slime, the slime reached out and engulfed the magnet, surrounding it completely.
