Fun with Friends: Extended Afternoon Program

For children entering Grades 1 - 6
Monday, June 17 - Friday, July 12, 2019 (no class July 4)
1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Grouped by grade/age, students experience a variety of activities that offer a way to relax and have fun with others. Children have lunch together, then have opportunities for indoor and outdoor activities. Selections might include crafts, creating models, board games or a rousing game of "Sharks and Minnows" - a student favorite. Children enrolled in other afternoon classes may join in the fun, too; the fee will be prorated for them. This program has been very popular with students!




Entering Grades 3 - 5
June 17 - June 28
1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Does your child struggle to produce legible cursive letters quickly and easily? In this class students are taught cursive writing and fine motor precision strategies and skills. Students engage in games, exercises, and activities that develop coordination, strength, and kinesthetic awareness, and improve letter formation and general output. Each student receives a pencil grip and handwriting workbook.


Math Essentials

Entering Grades 6 - 8
June 17 - July 28
1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Your child reviews grade-appropriate computation and application skills with an emphasis on pre-algebra. Instruction is guided by an initial curriculum-based assessment. Students convert units of measure, review basic math, represent and interpret word problems, and are introduced to symbolic algebra. Emphasis is placed on solving mathematical problems using hands-on methods. Work is also done on math problem solving to improve analytical thinking skills.


Improving Writing Skills Using Computer Tools

Entering Grades 6 - 8
July 1 - July 12  (no class on July 4)
1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Does your child struggle with organizing written information? Does your child have wonderful ideas but can't seem to get them down on paper? This course presents technological tools designed to help the student produce final products that more closely represent his thoughts. At the end of the course, parents are invited to class for a presentation by students of their work.
